GEOS 419 - GIS Data Analysis and Output


Course Description
This course introduces the learner to spatial analysis and cartographic representation with a focus on processes and techniques used during the data analysis and data output stages of the GIS development cycle. Topics include map design principles, symbolization, data classification, map scale and generalization, typography, colour theory and analytical processes such as spatial queries, spatial joins and map overlays.

Technical Requirements:

  • Students must have the necessary system requirements to run ArcGIS Software.
  • Technical Support is not available for Mac users.
  • Students outside the Calgary area are advised to use a laptop and are responsible to ensure the invigilation site has the required software to complete your exam.
  • Dual monitors are beneficial but not necessary.
  • Computers should have microphones and speakers.
