CIVL 2130 - Mechanical & Electrical Systems


Course Description
Mechanical and Electrical Systems introduces the basic systems of a building, including the fundamentals of water supply, drainage/sewage, mechanical and electrical systems including plumbing, heating, air conditioning, power distribution, renewable energy sources, lighting for residential and commercial buildings and also learn methods of calculating heat loss and heat gain in a building envelope. The course also focuses on systems integration and building performance. It covers methodologies for the evaluation and effective integration of various building systems in order to foster an understanding of the inter-relationships among the design, construction, operation and maintenance processes of buildings, and to develop a total approach to building performance and evaluation.
