INSP 123 - Magnetic Particle Inspection Laboratory


Course Description:
The Magnetic Particle Inspection Laboratory (MPI) is a hands-on course designed to complement the on-line theory training portion of the Magnetic Particle Inspection course.

Prerequisite(s):
  • One of:
    • CODE 118
    • CODE 270
    • EXAM 109

Required Materials
Students must have successfully completed Grade 10 Math or equivalent.

If students cannot produce credentials to demonstrate math proficiency, they must write the Math 10-C exam at SAIT. To book this test, please contact the SAIT Testing Centre at testing@sait.ca.

At least three months field experience in Magnetic Particle Inspection is recommended. For inquiries for CGSB certification, contact Natural Resources Canada. Learners must provide their own calculator with scientific functions which will be used throughout the course. Learners must supply their own safety boots for the lab component of this course. Textbooks are included in the course costs.

Upon successfully completing this 16-hour practical component, the Learner will receive a confirmation letter of success that must be submitted to NRCan along with a confirmation letter from the on-line component of this course to be eligible to write the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) certification exam.
