CSTN 007 - Painting and Finishing


Course Description:
This hands-on course will teach you the tips and tricks of all things painting. You will learn the art of painting, along with the proper techniques to confidently complete professional painting projects in your home.

Hands-on projects include:

  • Identifying safety requirements
  • Identifying the types, functions and characteristics of various coatings such as primer, paint, and finishes
  • Identifying the types, functions and characteristics of various solvents such as paint thinner and lacquer thinner  
  • Demonstrating the various tools used to apply coatings
  • Applying coatings to interior surfaces including walls and ceilings
  • Applying finishes to wood surfaces such as cabinets and flooring

Technical Requirements
Learners will be responsible for providing their own personal protective equipment (PPE): Canadian Standards Association (CSA) approved Safety Boots

  • Safety glasses and dust masks will be provided by SAIT.
  • Learners must provide their own 8m/26ft tape measure.
