PETR 002 - Fundamentals of Oil and Gas

Course Description:
This comprehensive overview introduces you to the basics of the petroleum industry. The course uses non-technical language to explore the concepts of oil and gas exploration, production, transportation and petroleum refining. The course provides a broad introduction to the petroleum industry with a focus on fundamental principles and technologies used by petroleum geologists, geophysicists, drillers and reservoir/production engineers.

You will gain practical experience through lab exercises concentrating on production operations, natural gas processing, unit operations and hydrocarbon fractionation. Upon completion, you will emerge with a general understanding of the oil and gas industry, its components, processes, and technologies. You will have the ability to relate your knowledge to the operations of petroleum production and service companies.
