Program Description


The Advanced Accounting and Finance Post-Diploma Certificate (ACFI) prepares you for a mid-tier accounting career. Learn from faculty with real-world accounting experience as you develop practical knowledge in ethics, finance, taxation, and more. You will develop the skills that are required in junior and intermediate-level accounting roles that are found in business, industry and government, and CPA-supervised positions in public accounting.

You can apply into SAIT’s Bachelor of Business Administration degree in order to pursue the CPA designation.

Graduates may find employment as an Accounting Technician, Bookkeeper, Accounting Clerk, or a Payroll Clerk.

Credentials


Upon successful completion of this program, graduates will receive a SAIT Advanced Accounting and Finance Post-Diploma Certificate.

Professional Designations and Certifications


When you graduate, you can pursue certification through the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA). SAIT has a formal agreement with CPA to recognize Advanced Accounting and Finance (ACFI) coursework for the educational requirements needed to register with the CPA Western School of Business (CPAWSB) and write the CPA Canada Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance (ACAF) examination leading to the ACAF certification.

Progression


Students must attain a PGPA and/or a CGPA of 2.0 or better in each semester and pass the necessary prerequisite courses to progress through the program. To qualify for graduation, students must pass all courses, attain a CGPA of 2.0 or better and complete course requirements within the prescribed timelines.

Admission Requirements


  • Applicants must have completed a two-year diploma or equivalent at an accredited post-secondary institution, with a minimum of 20 courses, or 60 credits, and a minimum 2.0 grade-point average. This diploma must contain the following coursework: Intermediate Financial Accounting, Intermediate Management Accounting, Business Law, Corporate Finance, and Accounting Applications.
  • All applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency prior to admission, including students educated in Canada.
  • SAIT evaluates international documents for admissions. After you’ve applied, consider our international document assessment service if your education is from outside of Canada.
