Program Description


As one of the largest sectors of the Canadian economy, the construction industry is currently facing a shortage of professionally trained construction estimators. If you have strong analytical skills and are detail-oriented, consider a career that’s in high demand with convenient online training through SAIT’s new construction estimating program.

Whether you are an experienced estimator looking to gain confidence in your skills with professional credentials or are new to the field, SAIT’s construction estimating training will prepare you for success with new curriculum developed by industry experts, knowledgeable instructors and exercises that emphasize real-world, practical applications.

Learn how to analyze costs and prepare precise estimates required for all types of construction projects in commercial and residential sectors, civil engineering and specific trades. Upon completion of the program you will have the knowledge, communication and technical skills required to study, interpret and quantify the information in construction contract documents to deliver accurate construction project estimates.

Credentials


Upon successful completion of all eight required courses, learners will receive a SAIT Certificate of Achievement. Learners may also register for individual courses of interest.

Professional Designations and Certifications


A number of the courses in this program have been approved for education and training credits towards Gold Seal Certification.

A number of courses in this program may be used towards the Canadian Institute of Quality Surveyors (CIQS) Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) Designation and the Construction Estimator Certified (CEC) Designation.

Progression


You have up to five years to complete all certificate courses. You must meet the graduation requirements as they exist at the time you register for your first course (see AC.3.1.1 Grading and Progression).

Admission Requirements


There are no entrance requirements for this program. You can begin registering for courses anytime by clicking a course name or calling 403.284.7248. Once you have registered for at least one course and have a SAIT student ID number, consider filling out and submitting the Program Declaration Form to the Office of the Registrar. Contact information for the Office of the Registrar is located in the upper corner of the form.
