PTPR 120 - Demystifying Crude Oil Production and Pricing
Course Description
Crude oil, from leaving deep underground rock, to arriving at a refinery to be made into a myriad of consumable products (lubricating oils, gasoline, asphalt, natural gas for home heating, to name a few), involves subjecting the crude through many processes. Participants will work in teams using SAIT’s fully functioning wellsite to simulate the production of crude oil, spin samples to determine composition, and use results to price the crude oil for sale to refineries. All processes will be active and hands-on for the participants as they compete with each other in teams to see who can best maximize the value for crude oil produced.
