SCMP 147 - Exploring Trades, Intermediate (Gr. 7-12)


Course Description
Go beyond basic construction skills and take on the next level of theory and hands-on skill development necessary to enter the construction industry. Explore design fundamentals, and learn advanced techniques to complete projects. Campers who have experience working with basic hand and power tools or who have attended our Exploring Trades, Intermediate camp will be most successful in this camp.
Essential skills: Document use, Numeracy, Thinking

DRESS CODE REQUIREMENTS: All participants are required to wear closed-toe shoes with a good tread; no sandals or open-toe shoes permitted in the shop. Steel-toe boots are preferred but not required. Long pants are required to be worn in the shop; no shorts, capris, low-cut tops, or loose clothing that could get caught in power tools. Coveralls or clothes that can get dirty are preferred. Campers with long hair should ensure that they bring hair elastics to tie back their hair.

SAFETY NOTE: Eye and hearing protection will be provided. Campers are required to adhere to the safety precautions outlined by the instructors; safety infractions may lead to removal from the camp. Campers will need working knowledge of most power tools to safely and accurately complete the projects.

NOTE: Oversized take home items.

NOTE: This is a two-week camp.

  • Register using your child’s name.
  • Registration for this program closes at 12:00pm (MST) on the Thursday before the program begins. Late registrations will not be accepted..
