HDFR 102 - Demystifying Hydraulic Fracturing

Course Description
Most wells that are completed today include some form of fracturing to stimulate the reservoir. Hydraulic fracturing is particularly misunderstood by non-industry individuals and this course will explore everything from the environmental impacts of fracking to key terminology and processes used to fracture wells.

Coiled Tubing is a common means of fracking wells. Participants will get to experience this process using SAIT’s state of the art coiled tubing simulator where they will work in teams to operate a virtual coiled tubing unit. This process will reinforce what they’ve learned and create a fun, slightly competitive environment for participants to experience what actually goes on in the field!
