INSP 163 - Magnetic Particle Levels I and II


Course Description
This combined first and second level course for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) introduces Magnetic Particle (MPI) methods which allow technicians to locate defects in ferro-magnetic materials. You will learn to work with various equipment and accessories while following inspection procedures and standards outlined by industry and regulatory groups.

    • CODE 118
    • CODE 270
    • EXAM 109

Additional Requisite Information:
Students must have successfully completed Grade 10 Math or equivalent.

If students cannot produce credentials to demonstrate math proficiency, they must write the Math 10-C exam at SAIT. To book this test, please contact the SAIT Testing Centre at testing@sait.ca.

At least three months field experience in Magnetic Particle inspection is recommended. For inquiries for CGSB certification, contact Natural Resources Canada. Learners must provide their own calculator with scientific functions which will be used throughout the course. Learners must supply their own safety boots for the lab component of this course. Textbooks are included in the course costs.
