BLPR 003 - Blueprint Reading

Course Description
This course teaches you how to read and interpret blueprints in construction and industry.

You will analyze the role of a contract document package in a construction project, while learning how to address the challenges faced by a builder when using construction drawings.

Starting with an overview of the types of drawings used during the design and documentation process, you will learn the concepts of orthographic projection, line styles used in print reading, standardized blueprint symbols and abbreviations, plus page layout and dimensioning styles. From there we will cover the development and presentation of orthographic views in a set of working drawings, resolving discrepancies and navigating through a set of drawings, while interpreting prints of working drawings for residential and small commercial buildings.

Additional blueprint training topics include:

  • Identify, draw and interpret 2D views of 3D objects
  • Locate specific information in a complex set of construction and shop drawings
