CBMK 102 - Hand Tools and Joinery


Course Description
This course will be an exploration of woodworking principles with a focus on the use of hand tools and traditional joinery.

Topics will include:

  • Proper use and care of hand tools
  • Grinding and honing techniques to achieve a safe, sharp cutting edge
  • Wood structure principles and how they affect design and construction
  • Traditional joinery techniques
  • Draw and construct the final project with your own design features

Special Notes for Classroom Courses

Please Note: This course includes 2 Saturdays - please view additional course details for Saturday dates.

Learners will be responsible for providing their own Canadian Standards Association (CSA) approved safety boots. Safety glasses will be provided by SAIT. Learners must provide their own 8m/26ft tape measure (metric required) and writing utensils (a 2H pencil lead is recommended for shop use).
