INSP 155 - Ultrasonics Level II Course Description This Level II Ultrasonics course for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) professionals emphasizes specific testing procedures and variables affecting test results. Learn to perform instrument checks, weld inspections and immersion testing for the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) Ultrasonics Level II examination.
Ultrasonics training topics covered include: review of Level I material, Advanced Theory, Applied Ultrasonic Techniques (Shear Wave Inspection, Calculating water path, Distance Amplitude Correction (DAC), sizing techniques for flaws, evaluation of flaws for type of defect, Instrument Calibrations review ASTM-E317, Codes and specification.

Prerequisite(s): Additional Requisite Information: At least one year field experience in ultrasonic inspection is highly recommended. For inquiries for CGSB certification, contact Natural Resources Canada. Learners must provide their own calculator with scientific functions which will be used throughout the course. Learners must bring their own safety boots for the lab component of this course. Textbooks are included in the course costs.

- Ultrasonics Level I training is required (INSP 205, INSP 118 or INSP 127). If you have completed your Level I Ultrasonics from another training institute, please call 403-284-8641 to confirm you have fulfilled the pre-requisite for this course. Failing to contact the department may result in losing your seat.
