CODE 118 - Materials and Processes for NDT


Course Description
This materials and processes course provides an overview of casting, forging and welding processes. We will discuss defects at various stages of processing and during service, defect detection, mechanical testing and heat treatments. Additional learning topics include: ferrous and non-ferrous metals; the ingot (inherent processing); alloys and solid solutions; plastic flow; finishing operations and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods.

Challenge exam (EXAM 109) is available on-line for a fee, please register on-line or through Student Services.To apply to complete a challenge exam for Materials and Processes, school approval is required based on prior materials and processes training.

Challenge Exam (EXAM 109) also available once approval has been granted by the Academic Chair of the NDT Department. The 1.5 hour Challenge Exam must be completed within one week for a fee of $250.00.

This exam must be invigilated, either at the SAIT Testing Centre or by a SAIT Approved Invigilation Service. For information on booking this exam, contact Distance Education Office.
