MEDL 340 - Molecular Medicine Fundamentals


Course Description
Molecular Medicine Fundamentals begins with a review of nucleic acid basics followed by the collection and preparation of samples used for nucleic acid analysis. Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) amplification, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), sequencing, and methods to label and read probes will be covered. Applications of molecular diagnostics in the clinical lab will be discussed and learners will isolate DNA, perform the PCR technique, and sequence and detect nucleic acid products in a lab setting.
