DSGN 380 - Machine Design Course Description Design analysis will be practiced for members under static and fatigue loading based on the relevant theory of failure and design criteria. Students will study the procedures involved in the design process as applicable to traditional mechanical equipment. Design details will be analyzed and experienced for shafts, couplings, roller and plain surface bearings, belt and chain drives, gears, power screws, fasteners and welded connections, clutches and brakes, springs and some basic mechanisms. Cross-referenced to the National Technology Benchmarks (NTB).
