CBMK 108 - Introduction to Woodworking Course Description In this Introduction to Woodworking course, you will learn about the characteristics of wood and how grain structure affects the way things are made. You will also learn how to safely and properly use woodworking machinery to process rough lumber into a finished product.
Additional topics covered include the appropriate types of wood and finishes to use on projects which may come into contact with food, how to incorporate sliding lid joinery into your projects and how to use jigs and component layout to build unique projects.
Possible projects completed in this course may include:
- Cheeseboard
- Cutting board
- Dovetailed box
- Deck chair
You are not required to obtain the certificate and may take individual courses of interest.
CBMK 108 Introduction to Woodworking must be completed prior to registering in CBMK 109, CBMK 111 or CBMK 112.
