SCMP 152 - Exploring Wood Trades (Gr. 5-6) Course Description Discover the joys of working with your hands. Experience the basics of construction trades in our fun, focused camp. Learn the safe use of commonly-used hand and power tools and develop skills and techniques while working on take home projects.
Essential skills: Numeracy, Reading, Working with others
DRESS CODE REQUIREMENTS: All participants are required to wear closed-toe shoes with a good tread; no sandals or open-toe shoes permitted in the shop. Steel-toe boots are preferred but not required. Long pants are required to be worn in the shop; no shorts, capris, low-cut tops, or loose clothing that could get caught in power tools. Coveralls or clothes that can get dirty are preferred. Campers with long hair should ensure that they bring hair elastics to tie back their hair.
SAFETY NOTE: Eye and hearing protection will be provided. Campers are required to adhere to the safety precautions outlined by the instructors; safety infractions may lead to removal from the camp.
- For youth entering grades 5 or 6 in September.
- Register using your child’s name.
- Registration for camp and lunch closes at 12:00pm (MST) on the Thursday before the camp begins. Late registrations will not be accepted.
- Camps run from 9:00am - 4:00pm.
