CBMK 112 - Woodworking with Solids and Veneer Course Description In this Woodworking with Solids and Veneer course you will learn about using veneers to make different grain matches as you build a hall or sofa table. Your table top will incorporate a diamond or reverse diamond veneer match, as well as inlay with a mitred border. You will also build a drawer into the apron assembly.
A variety of design choices will allow you to build your table in a style which suits you. Curved features and an elegant floating top could showcase your table in a French provincial style, or you may choose to keep things crisp and clean by designing a hall table in a Scandinavian style.
Techniques used for this project will include:
- Laying up and pressing veneers to a core
- Creating an inlay together with a mitred border
- Building jigs to safely machine shapes and contours
- Using floating tenon joinery for leg and rail construction
