SCMP 120 - Rotor Heads UAV (Gr. 7-9) Course Description Take flight this summer with our Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) camp. Learn about the theory of flight as it relates to drones, discover the many different applications of UAVs, and learn about the regulations and safe operation of UAVs. Visit SAIT’s Applied Research and Innovation Services (ARIS) to see life-sized drones, and take a trip to the Art Smith Aero Center to view a Boeing 737 in hangar as well as helicopters and a variety of other aircraft on site. At the end of your week take home your own recreational UAV.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS: Oral communication, Thinking, Working with others
DRESS CODE REQUIREMENTS: All participants are required to wear
closed-toe shoes with a good tread; no sandals or open-toe shoes
permitted in the shop. Long pants are required to be worn in the shop; no
shorts, capris, low-cut tops, or loose clothing that could get caught in power tools. Coveralls or clothes that can get dirty are preferred as campers may be working with paint. Campers with long hair should ensure that they bring hair elastics to tie back their hair.
SAFETY NOTE: Eye and hearing protection will be provided. Campers are
required to adhere to the safety precautions outlined by the instructors;
safety infractions may lead to removal from the camp.
