SCMP 180 - Baking Summer Academy (Gr. 9-12)


Course Description
Take your passion for pastry to the next level through our summer academy. Work alongside one of SAIT’s certified skilled, professional and creative Red Seal chef instructors to expand your knowledge of the baking and hospitality industry. Tour our kitchen labs, learn about kitchen safety, proper food preparation and techniques, as well as hospitality service while you explore the Baking and Pastry Arts and Hospitality Diploma programs offered at SAIT.  

Essential skills: Numeracy, Reading, Working with others

DRESS CODE REQUIREMENTS: All participants are required to wear closed-toe shoes with a good tread; no sandals or open-toe shoes permitted in the kitchens. Long pants are required to be worn in the kitchens; no shorts, capris or low-cut tops. Campers are not permitted to wear nail polish for the duration of this camp. Campers with long hair should ensure that they bring hair elastics to tie back their hair.

SAFETY NOTE: Campers are required to adhere to the safety precautions outlined by the instructors; safety infractions may lead to removal from the camp.

ALLERGY ALERT: Camp includes the preparation of foods containing nuts. SAIT’s kitchens and bakeries process nuts and other allergens.

PREREQUISITES: Previous culinary summer camp experience, previous food handling experience, or foods classes from school are required prior to registering for this camp.

  • For youth entering grades 9 through 12 in September.
  • Register using your child’s name.
  • Registration for camp and lunch closes at 12:00pm (MST) on the Thursday before the camp begins. Late registrations will not be accepted.
  • Camps run from 9:00am - 4:00pm.
