PWEN 127 - Second Class Power Engineering B2


Course Description
This 2nd Class Power Engineering course provides you with the supplemental education you may need to be successful in writing your Government Exam for B2.

2nd Class Power Engineering B2 includes 9 paper assignments and one final exam. You have 4 months to complete this course.

  • Measurement and Control Components
  • Control Instrumentation Systems
  • Fuels and Combustion Calculations
  • Firing and Draft Equipment
  • Combustion Control and Safeguards
  • Environmental Monitoring
  • Environmental Control Methods

PWEN 127 alone cannot be used towards any credit towards work experience. You must complete all 6 sections (A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, & B3) in order to receive credit towards work experience. If you are seeking credit in lieu of work experience please contact your provincial boilers’ branch to ensure that our courses are accepted. Contact info can be found on SOPEEC.org.

PWEN 127 alone does not allow students to receive a SAIT certificate. You must complete all 6 sections (A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, & B3) in order to receive the SAIT certificate for your learning.

To register you must be a holder of a Provincial Third Class Certificate or equivalent. It is recommended that students have a minimum of Grade 11 Math, Physics and English.

    • PWEN 130, PWEN 131, PWEN 138 and PWEN 139
    • PWEN 222 and PWEN 223

Required Materials
Required Textbook:  Go to PanGlobal website to see a complete list of reference materials.  If you obtain a copy of a used textbook, you will not have access to the additional resources. 

It is recommended that students have a minimum Grade 10 Math, Physics and English. 

Note:  Must be a holder of a Third Class Provincial Certificate or Equivalent.
