CHEM 106 - Chemistry & Field Application Course Description This chemistry and field application course will explain fundamental chemical concepts related to water-based hydraulic fracturing fluids. enable you to describe the nature of rock formations and fracturing fluids using field instrumentation.
You will learn water parameter measurements of hydraulic fracturing fluids as well as the types and compositions of fracturing fluids. The water operator uses this knowledge daily, conducting sample analysis or adjusting additive dosification in the fracturing fluid.
We will also look at compatibility issues associated with source waters, formation waters and flowback or produced waters. The laboratory component of the course is a one-day, hands-on application for measuring water parameters using field kit instrumentation.
