ELEC 142 - Solar PV: Introduction and Applications


Course Description
This course examines the basics of solar PV systems. You will learn aspects of the electrical grid system, and how solar PV can help reduce reliance on it. An introduction to electrical terms and properties will be explored in order to provide a base for solar PV topics. Learn what the advantages and options are of grid-tie, stand-alone and battery backup solar PV installations.

General topics of discussion will include aspects involved in the application, design, sizing, and the process of working with a contractor to install a grid-tied PV system. You will see equipment up-close, functioning and inspect a roof-top system and see real-world application of solar PV systems.

This course is intended to be an introduction to the world of solar PV systems.
