RREG 104 - Regulatory Overview Course Description This course is an overview of the legislative framework, authority, roles and responsibilities of federal and provincial governments in Canada with regard to the regulation of petroleum resource exploration, extraction, processing and transportation. You will learn about the origin and application of Canadian common law and the evolution of oil and gas law, oil and gas regulations for British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, and understand the process required for the approval of basic oil and gas activities in each western Canadian province. You will also understand the impact of recent technological advancements on current legislation and the concept of play-based regulations. Mineral Land Administrators, Surface Land Administrators, Joint Venture (JV) and Well Asset Management staff will benefit greatly from this overview course. Production Accountants and junior Marketing staff will also find this course valuable as all of them work closely with Regulatory personnel.
