MNTN 104 - Pre-Engineered Restaurant Fire Suppression Systems


Course Description
This fire safety course is designed for those with industry experience or training with an experienced person(s) to be approved as per the Alberta Fire Code 2019, to inspect, test or perform maintenance on a “Special Fire Suppression Systems”. Beginning with an industry overview of pre-engineered restaurant fire suppression systems you will learn fire suppression basics, codes and standards, the UL-300 standard, inspection test and maintenance, manufacturers design criteria and practical lab applications.

Required Materials
This course is delivered in a combination of home study; and hands-on labs. Materials will be available online via D2L three weeks before scheduled class. You will receive an email with instructions on accessing D2L.

Learners will then have 3 weeks to complete the self-study portion of the course at home. The practical and final exam portion is completed in 3-day session.

For the practical portion, it is recommended that students bring with them their copy of the “Alberta Fire Code 2019”, including the appendix: NFPA 17A and NFPA 96.

You will be supplied copies of the required manufacturers manuals below for the use in course only. It is strongly recommended these are sourced out for your own personal use by contacting the manufacturers directly.
