SCMP 132 - Auto Masters, For Girls (Gr. 7-9)

Course Description
This fun, interactive beginner’s mechanic camp is an introduction to the fascinating world of the automotive industry. Gain hands-on experience working on cars while learning the basics of car maintenance. Practical lessons include learning how to change a tire, the purpose of coolant and what to touch and not touch under the hood of a car. Experience a showroom, sales and service tour, participating in the basic purchase, financial and preparatory process of a new vehicle at a Calgary Motor Dealer Association (CMDA) dealership. Plus, build your own project to take home at the end of the week.
Essential Skills: Oral communication, Reading, Working with others

DRESS CODE REQUIREMENTS: All participants are required to wear closed-toe shoes with a good tread; no sandals or open-toe shoes permitted in the shop. Long pants are required to be worn in the shop; no shorts, capris, low-cut tops, or loose clothing that could get caught in power tools. Coveralls or clothes that can get dirty are preferred. Campers with long hair should ensure that they bring hair elastics to tie back their hair.

SAFETY NOTE: Eye and hearing protection will be provided. Campers are required to adhere to the safety precautions outlined by the instructors; safety infractions may lead to removal from the camp.

For youth entering grades 7 through 12 in September.

Registration for camp and lunch closes at 12:00pm (MST) on the Thursday before the camp begins. Late registrations will not be accepted.
Camps run from 9:00am - 4:00pm.
