PWEN 007 - Fifth Class Power Engineering Lab Course Description This lab is for students who have completed a Fifth Class Power Engineering theory course but do not have six months of work experience necessary to write the Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA) Fifth Class exam. Fifth Class power engineers are employed as operators in a power plant or heating plant such as hospitals, hotels, schools, office buildings or apartment buildings.
To write a Fifth Class Power Engineering Certificate of Competency exam, students must have successfully completed a theory course in boiler and heating plant operation and a Fifth Class Power Engineering Lab at a post-secondary school recognized by ABSA or have six months of work experience in a power plant or operating a heating plant boiler.
