UANL 101 - Urinalysis Theory


Course Description
Urinalysis Theory covers the anatomy and physiology of the urinary system as well as chemical and microscopic identification procedures used in performing a routine urinalysis.

Learners will review the clinical significance of, and the chemical tests used to detect, glucose, ketones, protein, amino acids, bile pigments, porphobilinogen, blood, nitrite and leukocytes in urine. Other topics covered include urine specimen types, collection techniques, materials and procedures used for proper collection and preservation of samples, quality control measures, and methodology of pregnancy tests.

This course is recognized by the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) as an approved refresher course
