INSP 124 - Magnetic Particle Inspection Theory


Course Description:
This online inspection course for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) provides an overview of the theory of the Magnetic Particle method. This method allows technicians to locate defects in ferro-magnetic materials. Lessons include the theoretical and procedural aspects of working with various pieces of equipment and accessories and how to follow inspection procedures and standards outlined by industry and regulatory groups.

Required Materials
Students must have successfully completed Grade 10 Math or equivalent.

If students cannot produce credentials to demonstrate math proficiency, they must write the Math 10-C exam at SAIT. To book this test, please contact the SAIT Testing Centre at testing@sait.ca.

The online format of D2L gives the Learner the opportunity to discuss important issues, access websites and review materials covered in the course. This 24-hour course completed over 6 weeks is the first part of the required 40 hours of training per the NRCan guidelines. To be certified under the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) certification scheme students need to take the 16-hour hands-on component INSP-123
