INSP 129 - Radiography Level I Theory


Course Description:
This online radiography theory course for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) covers the physical principles of penetration radiation, sources, detection, process and weld interpretation. Focus is placed upon practical applications and theory for Level 1 Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) certification. Radiation safety with x-ray tubes, required by the Alberta Government codes, is also covered.

Required Materials
Students must have successfully completed Grade 10 Math or equivalent.

If students cannot produce credentials to demonstrate math proficiency, they must write the Math 10-C exam at SAIT. To book this test, please contact the SAIT Testing Centre at testing@sait.ca.

The online format of D2L gives the learner the opportunity to discuss important issues, access websites and review materials covered in the course. This course is the first part of the required 40 hours of training per the NRCan guidelines. To be certified under the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) certification scheme students need to take the 16-hour hands-on component INSP-128 separately.

Special Notes for Distance Courses

If you are unable to complete the course within the 6 wk timeline, you have the option to purchase an extension. This extension must be purchased 2 business days before your course end date. If you are not able to complete the online course within the allotted 6 weeks you have the option to purchase an Extension. An extension must be purchased 2 business days before your course end date.
