PERS 150 - Ready to Teach

Course Description:
Ready to Teach (RTT) is designed to create a skills bridge for internationally or locally educated professionals with either a background in post-secondary instruction abroad or limited post-secondary teaching experience in Canada. With Canada’s push to recruit large numbers of post-graduate degree holders educated in professional and technical specializations, it has become important to develop an appropriate training vehicle to address both intercultural and pedagogical aspects of development. This course will provide participants with appropriate instructional and technical skills required to teach diverse groups of learners in Canadian post-secondary education settings. Participants will also learn content related to professional language, cultural appropriateness, workplace readiness training, coaching, labour-market analysis and employment. The vision is to prepare participants with appropriate skills to thrive in any Canadian classroom.
