GEOS 001 - Basic Mapping for UAVs


Course Description:
Basic Mapping for Mapping for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), also known as remotely piloted aerial systems (RPAS), introduces you to the mapping process for unmanned aerial systems (UAS). You’ll describe the components of a UAS, generate maps in ArcGIS Pro to support field operations and create UAS mission plans using Pix4DCapture. You’ll also use  Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology to derive ground control points (GCPs), and you’ll process imagery using photogrammetry software. You’ll work with existing data as well as processing data you collect during field missions.

Technical Requirements
This course requires that students have access to a drone which supports mission planning. We recommend DJI Spark or DJI Mavic Air.
