SYST 365 - Broadcast Video Equipment Course Description: This course will introduce advanced concepts of video encoders, UDH-TV, SVIP (Studio Video over IP), cameras, system infrastructure, server recording and playback, and switching. The learner will gain a more in-depth understanding of component analog, digital formats, and system challenges such as Aspect Ratio and Timecode. Topics include compression standards, 4K, HDR, HFR WCG, digital glue, colour camera systems beginning with optics and distribution, and monitoring digital signals within the plant. Through the lab component learners will explore compression with a focus on MPEG as applied to digital video, video online editing systems, processing video for routing, SDI testing, and transport stream analysis to complement the theory provided in SYST-305 and SYST-365.
