CLAW 1010 - Canadian and Environmental Law


Course Description:
Canadian and Environmental Law is an introduction to selected laws concerning environmental protection and construction safety. You will examine major statutes, regulations and policies related to environmental management in Canada in the context of construction facilities and new urban developments. As part of your studies, you will review the relevance of environmental legislation of Alberta, as it relates to issues such as air and waste quality, hazardous waste management, site assessment and cleanup, emergency planning, spills, transportation of dangerous goods, noise and vibration. Other key topics include philosophical, historical and social aspects of legal and ethical principles underlying environmental law, as well as the duties of professionals toward society.
