3 Credits

Prerequisite(s):
  • One of:
    • BFIN 333
    • BFIN 355

Equivalent(s):
BFIN 2356

Technical Requirements
  • BFIN 333 can also be taken at the same time as BFIN 356.
  • Classroom Students
    • It is important to understand that including this course into your program requires an additional fee that is to be paid, during the first week of your classes, to the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI) to cover your enrolment into the CSI’s Investment Funds in Canada (IFC) course.

    • That price is approximately $425, plus GST. The price includes the textbook, online learning support, self-testing modules and practice final exams, and the price of writing the final exam. In essence, our BFIN 356 is the IFC course, so you are accomplishing two things at once:

      • You are earning the three credits associated with BFIN 356 toward your BA diploma

      • You are working to achieve an industry accreditation to meet licensing requirements that will significantly enhance your ability to be hired early in your career search

    • On the first day of class your instructor will provide you with the web link to the CSI enrolment and payment procedures for the program and will help guide you through the process, online. That requires that you have the ability to pay the enrolment cost with a credit card. Enrolment can be paid for by cheque but the process will take about two weeks longer than using a credit card.

  • Distance Education Students
    • Distance Education students will complete an equivalent course directly through the Canadian Securities Institute.
    • The equivalent course is Investment Funds in Canada (IFC). You can view details and register here: https://www.csi.ca/student/en_ca/courses/csi/ifc.xhtml?icid=BNN-CSIIFC–I05.
    • There are no assignments; the entire final grade will be based on the final exam. Please note that you must achieve a minimum final grade of 65% in order to have this course applied to your SAIT credential.
