EMTL 224 - Introduction to Aircraft Metallurgy Course Description: The student will study the basic heat treatment of ferrous metals, deals with composition, identification of types, case hardening, nitriding, annealing and terminology of forces acting on ferrous metal (i.e., steels, stainless steels, etc.). Basic heat treatment of non-ferrous metals deals with composition of types, brass, copper and the identification of types and various tempers that different compositions can be tempered or annealed to (i.e., aluminum and aluminum alloys) will also be studied.
