APSC 202 - Applied Chemistry for Instrumentation Course Description: This course will provide a foundation in basic chemistry and physics used in the design and operation of analytical instrumentation. You will study a number of topics related to analytical instrumentation:
- Identify the basic properties of light used in gas and liquid analysis.
- Apply light behaviour and electrochemistry concepts to gas and liquid analysis.
- Study the importance of corrosion prevention as it relates to analytical instrumentation.
- Identify some common hydrocarbon chains and relate them to hydrocarbon refining and combustion.
- Study why sample handling is the root cause in over 80% of “analyzer problems”.
