PTPR 1255 - Overview of the Canadian Oil and Gas Industry Description This course is designed for non-science students to increase their literacy in a highly technical field. It develops foundational knowledge of the Canadian energy, oil, and gas industry. Knowledge gained provides a perspective of the industry, as well as potential roles that support the industry. Topics include an overview of global energy markets, the relationship of the oil and gas industry with the Canadian economy, and the differences between the Canadian and international oil and gas industries. Also discussed are how oil and gas are found, developed, and brought to market. The future of the oil industry in Canada will be discussed in relation to society, technology, geopolitics, and energy demand.
