MEDL 204 - Transfusion Medicine Description This course uses classroom discussion, laboratory practice, and independent study to train students to identify and analyze antigen antibody reactions. Topics covered include clinically significant blood group systems (ABO, Rh, Lewis, Other), pre-transfusion testing (including a study of blood bank reagents), blood donation, component preparation, quality assurance, transfusion reactions, autoimmune hemolytic anemias, hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn, ABO discrepancies, and autoimmune and drug induced hemolytic anemias.
