PHOT 355 - Photojournalism II Description This photojournalism course shifts the focus from the quick daily news photo production (typical of the daily news cycle) to emphasizing long-form storytelling. You will explore subjects in more detail and depth. The course includes several longer form projects, though it begins with some faster-paced assignments to hone existing skills.
Much of the work you complete may be earmarked for possible publication in the SAIT journalism program’s student online newspaper, The Press. Most projects involve milestones, such as story pitches, assignment planning meetings, editing sessions, and critiques, many of which are gradable. Meeting these milestones will demonstrate the high degree of planning, professionalism, and self-motivation required to be successful in this course.
A strong emphasis is placed on journalistic integrity, particularly regarding the accurate representation of scenes and the prohibition of altering photographic content.
