ECED 351 - Programming 5: Emergent Curriculum

Description
This course examines age-appropriate approaches and strategies, specifically emergent curriculum, when designing, developing, and implementing play opportunities in an early childhood setting. Drawing upon appropriate technology and concepts previously learned, students will create an emergent curriculum for indoor and outdoor learning environments that respond to children’s interest, curiosities, and needs. To support a living inquiry, students will pay close attention to how children play through careful observation and the pedagogy of listening. Students will consider their role in promoting a curriculum that is co-created with children, and the importance of nurturing conditions for inquiry to occur.
