PHAR 216 - Pharmacy Operations Management Description This comprehensive course equips students with essential skills for effective pharmacy operations, while emphasizing the legal and regulatory framework that governs pharmacy practice. Learners will identify laws and regulations that impact pharmacy operations, including key pharmacy and privacy legislation, and will describe pharmacy-specific standards of practice that ensure safe, ethical, and compliant care.
Participants will also gain practical experience in accurately filling prescriptions, managing inventory, and generating reports critical to pharmacy functioning. Emphasis will be placed on using authentic resources to determine medication interchangeability, insurance coverage, and documentation requirements. In addition, students will develop proficiency in using standard pharmacy software tools to facilitate secure electronic communication, create reports, and manage digital records.
Through hands-on training and real-world scenarios, this course prepares students to apply both legal knowledge and operational skills effectively within community and institutional pharmacy environments.
