SYST 201 - Energy Systems


Description
This course introduces you to energy systems, focusing on reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy. You’ll apply systems thinking to examine political, social, economic, and environmental factors in energy production and use. Key topics include project valuation, life cycle analysis, carbon mitigation, infrastructure, land and water use, emissions management, regulatory compliance, and trade-offs between traditional and alternative energy sources. Using current data and real-world examples, you’ll also study global energy trends, and the economic and social impacts of energy strategies. Through case studies, collaborative projects, and real-world analyses, you’ll connect your discipline to system optimization, stakeholder relations, and adaptability. This hands-on approach will prepare you for the evolving energy industry, where balancing demand, reliability, cost, and environmental impact requires innovative solutions.
