The Certificate of Achievement in Utility Vegetation Management is designed for individuals working within the utility and arboricultural industries who wish to develop and enhance their knowledge and skills related to managing and leading utility vegetation management (UVM) programs.

This comprehensive training program is facilitator-led and kicks off with the first introductory course providing an overview of North American electrical systems and utility arboricultural principles.

The second course builds a foundation of fundamental project and program management processes, along with an introduction to integrated vegetation management (IVM).

The next three courses provide an in-depth and hands on approach within the students’ own work environment to practice the program and project management processes necessary for developing successful UVM programs.

The final course integrates all the previous knowledge and skills together in a UVM program plan project.

Through this program, you will develop the professional skills necessary to plan and manage sustainable utility vegetation management programs in alignment with safety, compliance, best practices, and Right-of-Way (ROW) Stewardship.

The SAIT Certificate of Achievement in Utility Vegetation Management forms the academic core requirements (240 hrs) for the industry credentials recognized by the Utility Vegetation Management Association (UVMA) and the Utility Arborist Association (UAA).

Students with a minimum average of 75% in the Utility Vegetation Management Certificate of Achievement program are eligible to apply for the Utility Vegetation Management Association (UVMA)/Utility Arborist Association (UAA) credential. Students achieving a minimum average grade that is less than 75% will need to consider repeating courses to improve the overall average to be eligible for the UVMA/UAA credential. Should a student receive a passing grade of 50% in a given course, the other course scores must be sufficient to bring the average up to the minimum standard of 75%.
