Fifth Class Power Engineering

Program Description

Fifth Class prepares students to take the Provincial Fifth Class Power Engineering exam or the equivalent low-pressure heating plant certificate provincial exam. Provinces may recommend this course as study material for heating plant certificate examinations other than Fifth Class. In Alberta, this course credits six-months work experience towards the required 12 months. If you are outside of Alberta, please contact your local boiler branch for more information regarding government certification. Contact information can be found onsopeec.org. Please note that students are unable to transfer between Classroom and Distance/Online offerings of the theory course. In order to switch between Classroom and Distance/Online offerings, students must withdraw from their current course and register in their desired course.

You have up to five years to complete all certificate courses. You must meet the graduation requirements as they exist at the time you register for your first course (see AC.3.1.1 Grading and Progression).
