Lifesaving Society
Become a Lifeguard! Lifeguarding is a rewarding job that takes elaborate training and a great level of responsibility. Bronze Medallion is the first step in becoming a lifeguard, and teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles. Bronze Cross is the second step and teaches the difference between lifesaving and lifeguarding, the principles of emergency procedures and teamwork. National Lifeguard is the nationally recognized lifeguard certification and the final step in becoming a lifeguard. Must be 13 years of age for Bronze Medallion or have completed Bronze Star. Must have completed Bronze Medallion to enroll in Bronze Cross. Must be 16 years of age, completed Bronze Cross and have standard First Aid for National Lifeguard. Red Cross
Upon successful completion of the Water Safety courses you will be certified to teach the Red Cross Water Safety Program. Water Safety Assistant Prerequisite: 15 years of age and show the ability to perform Red Cross Swim Kids 10 strokes and skills. Water Safety Instructor Prerequisite: 15 years of age and successful completion of Red Cross Assistant Water Safety Instructor course. Fitness Certification Courses

Have you ever thought about teaching group fitness classes? Become a member of the Alberta Fitness & Leadership Certification Association! Gain practical knowledge of anatomy, exercise physiology, movement mechanics, and basic nutrition. Exercise Theory is a requirement to proceed to all AFLCA specialty modules including Resistance Training. |
