Description
On July 1, 2015 the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Act was proclaimed in Alberta. CPA is the unification of the legacy designations (CA, CGA and CMA) across Canada. In addition, CPA Alberta has launched the Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance (ACAF).
At SAIT, we’ll work with you to create the most efficient and productive pathway to earn your CPA or ACAF certificate designation. Our part-time Professional Accounting program will prepare you for the next level of your career through advanced and challenging accounting courses that fit your busy schedule.
SAIT’s accounting courses are accepted for the current CPA and ACAF entrance requirements and are available through Continuing Education (evenings and weekends). See “Accounting Course Selection” at the bottom of this page for start dates.

“As a well-respected educational facility not only in Calgary - but all of Canada, SAIT students can expect better job opportunities, better salaries, and better career choices.”

We are able to qualify and provide courses required for successful transition into the CPA Professional Education Program. Please contact the Alberta Accountants Unification Agency to determine your specific requirements.
Student Success
- These courses are rigorous and challenging. Most successful students spend about 15 hours per course per week doing homework and preparing for exams. Remaining focused and diligent with coursework is necessary for success in completing each course.
- You must be able to read, write, and understand the English language at a level exceeding basic conversational English.
- Due to the nature of the program, most material is presented at a quick pace, so you must be present for all coursework in order to be successful and keep up with the program (see AC.3.8.1 Attendance Requirements).
