Program Description


Build critical leadership skills with these interactive, workshop-style courses designed for current or aspiring supervisors and managers. You need a minimum of 12 courses to complete this program. Some courses are recognized by the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) for the Gold Seal. The Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board recognizes this program for a Blue Seal designation.

Ideal for aspiring, new and current supervisors or managers, this program will improve your management acumen through practical, skill-oriented business courses. Available through interactive workshop-style classes as well as online courses, our industry-leading instructors will challenge and build your core business, leadership and management skills.

You will gain specific business skill sets through courses like Conflict Management, Enterprise Risk Management, Labour Relations, Performance Management and more. This program is relevant to all industries in both the public and private sectors - and with over 50 courses to choose from, you can tailor your studies to your specific needs and interests.

Convenient scheduling allows you to achieve certification within a year or less, or if you’d prefer, you have the option to work towards your certification over a longer period.

  • You must be able to read, write, and understand the English language at a level exceeding basic conversational English.

Laddering


Courses can be used toward earning your Achievement in Business Competencies (Blue Seal Certificate) from the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board

Credentials


After successfully completing this program, learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement in Applied Management.

Job Grant


Note: This program is eligible for the Canada-Alberta Job Grant.

Progression


You have up to five years to complete all certificate courses. You must meet the graduation requirements as they exist at the time you register for your first course (see AC.3.1.1 Grading and Progression).

Admission Requirements


There are no entrance requirements for this program. You can begin registering for courses anytime by clicking a course name or calling 403-284-7248. Once you have registered for at least one course and have a SAIT student ID number, consider filling out and submitting the Program Declaration Form to the Office of the Registrar. Contact information for the Office of the Registrar is located in the upper corner of the form.

Program Outline


Courses for this program are available through our Corporate Training department as one or two day seminars. Numerous courses are also available through Distance Education (online).

Our courses can be taken in any order that suits you and are scheduled throughout the year. Take only the courses that meet your professional and career needs, or complete 12 courses to receive your certificate of achievement.
A minimum of 5 courses from Course List A and 7 courses from Course List B are required to complete the credential. You may choose to take additional courses from list B in place of list A. 

Online registration closes about one week before the course start date. You can register up to one business day before the start date by calling 403.284.7248 or 1.877.284.7248. Courses do fill up, so it is recommended you register early.
